Aerostar, a Tillamook-based company formerly known as Near Space Corporation, operates the Tillamook UAS Test Range (TUTR). The range was authorized in 2013 by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as one of only six FAA designated Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Sites.
Aerostar operates the Tillamook UAS Test Range under several FAA Test Site Certificates of Authorization (COA) that allow UAS operations throughout nearly 32,000 square miles of western Oregon, covering the area from the Coast to the Cascades and the Columbia River to the California border.
The Tillamook UAS Test Range is authorized to conduct Public Aircraft Operations in the National Air Space (NAS) operating under various FAA Letters of Agreement (LOAs) that permit operations from the surface to 130,000 feet, in Class G, E, D, and A airspace.
